The Officers and Members of the Croydon Volunteer Fire Company would like to express our most sincere condolences to the Bensalem Rescue Squad on the Line of Duty death of one of it's Paramedics.

Daniel McIntosh was a member of the Bensalem Rescue Squad for 14 years. He touched many lives through his work and his personal life. He was a loving Father of two girls and a devoted husband. Dan unfortunately lost his life on March 7, 2010. While aiding a patient Dan succumbed to a massive heart attack.

The Croydon Volunteer Fire Company assisted the Bensalem Rescue Squad, The Township of Bensalem and the entire emergency services community on March 15th, 2010 by covering Bensalem for fire calls with Engine 11 and covering Bristol Township for fire calls with Ladder 11 so others could pay their respects to a fallen brother.

3/31/2010 @ 1356 hrs - Detatched Garage Fire - Prospect Ave - Croydon
Passing motorist reports smoke showing from a detached garage with nobody at the residence. Deputy 11 on scene with a light smoke condition on the interior of the garage. Chief 11 went to the interior and reported a heater fire. Ladder 11 on scene and pulled a booster line with Engine 11 arriving shortly after providing manpower. Rescue 51 arrived on scene and staged. Fire was contained and the assignment held to Ladder and Engine 11.

3/30/2010 @ 1635 hrs - Mobile Home Fire - Main Ave - Snug Harbour Marina - Croydon
Multiple calls reporting a mobile home fire. Police on scene report a working fire. Deputy 11 on scene with heavy fire showing and established command. Ladder 11 dropping in from the plug with Engine 11, 11-1 and Ladder 37 directly behind. Croydon Fire Company was assisted in exstinguishment by Ladder 37, Engine 14, Rescue 12, MCI 4 and Medic 143. Cover companies were Engine 52 and Quint 51 as well as Tower 14 from Station 14. FM225 is investigating.

3/9/2010 @ 1213 hrs - Dwelling Fire - Logan Street - Bristol Borough
Ladder 11 and Engine 11 were dispatched to assist Bristol Borough Station 50 on a reported dwelling fire. Ladder 11 was the 1st in Ladder arriving shortly after Engine 50. Engine 50's crew was able to hold the fire to a space in the attic while Ladder 11's crew went to the roof. Engine 501 was placed on the hydrant. Chief 11 was also on scene while Battalion 11 took the cover assignment for the borough with Engine 11 at Bristol Township station 14.

3/8/2010 @ 1315 hrs - Dwelling Fire - Stephen Avenue - Croydon
Deputy 11 arrived on scene with heavy fire showing on side "D" of a single story single family dwelling. Deputy 11 established command. Chief 11 on scene and took interior command. Ladder 11 on scene went to interior attack with 1 3/4" hand line. Engine 12 covered the plug with Engine 11 going to the roof for ventilation. Engine 11-1 to interior with assistance from Engine 50, Ladder 14 and Rescue 10. Also on scene was Rescue 8 as RIT,Rescue 51 for Air and Medic 143 for EMS.

3/1/2010 @ 2001 hrs - Dwelling Fire with exposures involved - Clive Avenue (Bensalem)
Chief 11 arrived on scene heavy fire from a dwelling. First arriving crews pulled multiple hand lines to protect the exposures on sides B bravo and D delta sides. Residents reported that the home owners had munitions inside. Crews ordered to take defensive actions for precautions. Secondary water supply picked up, Ladder 11 in service with master stream. Companies in service: Engines 16, 28, 37, Truck Co's. 11, 16, 37, Rescue 6, 53, Squad 185, Canteen 4. Under investigation by Bensalem FMO.

2/10/2010 @ 0620 hrs - Dwelling Fire (Arson) - Excelsior Ave
Early Wednesday morning Croydon firefighters were alerted to a reported dwelling fire. Engine 11 arrived on scene in less then 3 minutes from the time of dispatch and found a 2 story single family dwelling well involved. Firefighters struggled with access and mutual aid aid companies were delayed due to extreme weather conditions. Firefighters were also told by a neighbor that there may be people in the dwelling but no one was located. It would be discovered later that the house was intentionally set. Croydon fire fighters were assisted by Stations 52, 37, 14, 50, 12 and 53.

1/31/2010 - Apartment - Multi Alarm - Burlington, NJ
Croydon Firefighters were called to assist the Burlington City Fire Department on a multi-alarm apartment fire. Croydon Volunteers were assigned interior operations were they breached several walls and aided in extensive overhaul.

1/30/2010 @ 2010 hrs - Dwelling Fire - 6th Ave, Croydon
Croydon firefighters were dispatched to a reported dwelling fire. The fire was dispatched following a 911 call in which the dispatcher was unable to contact the caller but could here what sounded like wood burning over the telephone connection. Assistant 37 arrived on scene and reported a 2 story single family dwelling with heavy fire showing. One burn victim was located on scene. Engine 11 arrived on scene and went to work. Battalion 11 on scene and established 6th ave command. Ladders 11 and 37 arrived shortly after went into ventilation and search operations. Engine 11-1 and 14, Rescue 51 and 53, Ladder 10 to assist. Rescue 16 was added as 2nd RIT after Rescue 53 was put to work. Medic 143 transported both patients. Extinguishments efforts were hampered by extremely cold temperatures and the fact that it was snowing making the roads very slippery.
